The Board
believes that all web sites published in the Prairie Land Regional Division
(PLRD) or PLRD schools impact the image of PLRD as a whole.
Therefore web site authors are expected to exemplify the highest
standards of good taste and responsibility.
The intent of this document is to ensure that all Prairie Land School web
sites meet minimum standards for maintenance, appropriate content, protection of
privacy, respect for copyright, and safety of students and staff.
Maintaining web sites effectively prevents negative images of both the
school and the school division from being projected and avoids the potential of
putting students and/or staff at risk of invasion of privacy, harm, or
litigation. Therefore it is of the
utmost importance that any PLRD web site be properly planned and maintained. The
purposes of the Prairie Land Regional School web sites are:

is not intended to be a complete guide to web site development.
The Stakeholder Technology Advisory Council (STAC) under the auspices of
Alberta Learning, published a best practice document in March of 1999 that is an
excellent resource for use a guide to developing a web site. Prairie Land
Web Site Policy should be considered a companion document to the STAC best
practice document. The best
practice document contains many helpful guidelines while the PLRD web site
policy document specifies mandatory components, features, or restrictions on
PLRD school and division web sites. For a copy of
