There are many instances
where scholarship money goes unclaimed
because students feel they are not qualified.
If you don't apply, you won't know. If
you do apply, the worst that can happen
is that you will be turned down. It is
worth a few minutes of your time to try
for a sum of cash that can help offset
the rising cost of post-secondary education.
STUDENT LOANS
Provincial Student Loan forms may be
obtained from your school's counselling
office or general office. New forms for
each year arrive around the end of March.
The forms differ from year to year, however,
there are some significant changes to
the application format this year. The
application deadline is tentatively set
at May 31, however, students may apply
later. Students should apply as early
as possible (prior to May 31) to ensure
they have funding or have time to find
alternate funds to begin their post-secondary
study in the following September.
NOTE: It is strongly recommend
that students explore all options for
financing post-secondary education. The
Student
Finance Board has changed its eligibility
requirements, apparently making loans easier to obtain Trades apprentices are eligible to apply using a trades application package.
Most of the major banks now have their
own student finance programs that are
more readily attainable with the added
benefit of being locally available. Their
interest rates and borrowing amounts are
competitive with the Student Finance Board.
Be sure to inquire about their financing
options. |
